These two have been playing super well but I knew the time would come... We are starting to hit a few sibling speed bumps. Full body wrestling, kicking and punching. Nasty name calling etc but the truth of the matter is without each other they would have gone bonkers already😜 Despite all that they really are best mates👱‍♂️👱‍♂️they like to keep it real with the odd biffo and then move on👊 While we have had our challenging moments I've really enjoyed watching their special connection followed by the odd wine 🍷😂😉 Just keeping it real😉 What have you noticed at your place?

Today was all about pumpkin.🍊🍊🍊 I got myself a big chap so I could make all things pumpkin!! To make life easy I chop my pumpkin into giant chunks and roast. This helps remove excess moisture and makes a sweeter tasting pumpkin. Also super easy to peel once roasted. Less chance of loosing a finger while removing skin from raw😂😂 First up I made pumpkin spinach and feta muffins for afternoon tea. The 👱‍♂️👱‍♂️ boys are plowing through the pantry stores. So I thought some substantial muffins should keep em going! For dinner I made pumpkin and kumara patties with lemon & thyme cauliflower rice and homemade Aioli. I will use the remaining roasted pumpkin to make pumpkin hummus for afternoon snacks and lastly I will make basic pumpkin soup to freeze down (using up some of my older veg in the fridge also). That way when I reheat I can turn it into any flavoured pumpkin soup I like! I also roasted the seeds and season with olive oil, cumin powder and smoked paprika - for moresh snack Yuss! The only waste -the skin will be fed to my humble worms! 🐉 One whole pumpkin🍊 5 different options boom! Let's see how many ways we can get creative while on lockdown🤔😊

Pretty distraction - a wiggling sunflower🌻🌻🌻 Sunflowers are heliotropic which means they move towards the sun during the day. On gloomy days if grown in a row they turn to each other for energy💚🌻 We could all learn a little from the humble sunflower💚 Who do you turn to for a little energy?? Friends, family, neighbours? I know given the current circumstances in most places worldwide we are self isolating due to covid-19 but what's to stop you from picking up the phone? FaceTime, or talking to your neighbour over the fence (with social distancing of course) So today I am sending all my love and energy to you lovely people near and far 💞💞💞 Let's look out for each other xox

What a crazy start to the week its been omg! Day one of four weeks of lock down for us. So very grateful for the beach today. The boys thought it was a great day for a swim, so swim they did, while I sucked in the sea air and enjoyed the moment. Taking it one day at a time😉 Aroha nui Rachael xox

Today I helped make soup to feed 120 people in need. We rescued food from supermarkets that would have otherwise been destined for the bin. Food to make an incredibly nourishing soup filled with tomatoes, onion, garlic, celery, courgette, beetroot, potatoes, parsley, cauliflower, capsicum, pears, apples and cream. We used fruit as a natural sweetener and the tomatoes provided the acidity. Along with a good hit of salt, pepper and cream to enrich it all into a magic mouth watering soup to feed the community. I supported teenage boys to create this along with the other wonderful volunteers - what a team we made! Collectively we learnt, laughed and created while driven by a common goal. community💚 So today I am embracing my awesomeness for my contribution towards the community instead of panicking and stockpiling toilet paper😉😂 Without Community we are not much, but we will get through this together and be all the more stronger.
