Beeswax wraps – FAQ

An eco-friendly, reusable alternative to plastic cling-wrap.  Beeswax wraps are fabulous for wrapping sandwiches, snacks, cheeses, leftovers, (half avos, lemons, onions) the list goes on!  Beeswax wraps are environmentally friendly oh yeah!!  Made from 100% cotton, beeswax, pine resin and coconut oil.

The combination of ingredients creates a tacky waterproof fabric that can be shaped over your food or dish.  Using the warmth from your hands to mould the wrap over the item creating a firm seal.  Handmade by a beach-loving Mum in Papamoa, Bay of Plenty, New Zealand.

ECO-FRIENDLY * REDUCING LANDFILL WASTE * 100% REUSABLE * COMPOSTABLE = A happy planet 🙂

*Because these are handmade exact measurements may vary slightly.
*Not limited to these sizes and fabrics – others available on request. Please feel free to ask!

How long will they last?
Your beeswax wrap will last for up to one year depending on the frequency of use.  Make sure you follow the care instructions to ensure the longevity of your wrap.  Depending on the usage, after 6-12 months wear, your wrap will lose its tackiness and need to be rewaxed.  I will be offering a re-waxing service in time so you can give your wrap more life!  If they are a bit worse for wear why not put them in your compost bin – Zero waste boom!!

How to care for and store my wraps?
Simply wash the wrap in cold soapy water, sponge off with a dishcloth and air dry on a dish rack or line.  It is now ready to use again.  Store flat in a drawer or rolled up in a dry cool place.  *Do not wring out*

Please be aware that some foods may stain your beeswax wrap eg: beetroot.  This will not affect your wrap other than aesthetically.  Do not use to cover meat.

Your wrap does not like…
Heat! So stay away from microwaves, ovens, hot water, dishwashers and washing machines.  Again – wash in cold water unless you want a big mess! For this reason, it is not advisable to use to cover your meat.  You can use a dampened paper towel, another plate upside down or greaseproof paper instead.
